Yaprak is a designer researcher who uses ethnographic approaches in several areas such as ecology, transportation, citizenship, and urbanity for social innovation projects led by public and private institutions. She develops and conducts creative project processes using data- and context-driven design tools. She practices human and nonhuman centred design to create or improve services, artifacts, and policies.

Her scientific researches focus on uses and its traces, bodies movements, and artificial materiality based on fieldworks. She studies the anthropological link between aesthetics and politics and develops a pragmatic aesthetics-driven design approach to improve ecological and civic engagement. She uses those outcomes in her social and service design practice that bring originality and innovation to her work.

 

After her studies in plastic arts, product, and transport design, she worked in France and Canada in the art and design industry. She co-led with two other artists designers the creative community Tostaky, organised several underground exhibitions and creative actions in Montreal (2010-2014). She held lecturer position at Université de Montréal (2011-2016) and temporary assistant professor position at Université de Nîmes (2016-2017). ▶︎Teaching Portfolio◀︎ She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Design from Université de Montréal (2019). Recently, she contributed to different research through design projects in digital health, library services, participatory architecture. She is currently a Policy Analyst Designer at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
